Successfully Golfing After a Stroke for Fun and Fitness

There is no denying stroke survivors have a lot to deal with as they go through the rehabilitation process and learn to live with physical limitations. Unfortunately, far too many people treat having a stroke as a sign they can no longer enjoy physical activities. For stroke survivor's who love to play golf, those so-called physical limitations aren't as pronounced as one would imagine.

Playing Golf Again is a Real Possibility

Except in the worst of cases, the only thing that keeps most stroke survivors from getting back onto the golf course is the assumption they can't do it. That assumption is wrong in so many ways. Will their golf game be as proficient as it was before the stroke? Probably not, but everything in life changes after medical trauma. The reality is golf courses aren't going anywhere and any golfer who wants to golf belongs on the golf course. That includes stoke victims who love the game.

It only takes three things to make it happen. First, the person affected by the stroke has to believe they can do it. Second, they need to accept certain limitations and learn to play within themselves. Finally, the stroke victim needs to minimize expectations and maximize the joy that comes from being out on a golf course instead of laying in a bed feeling disabled.

The Benefits of Golfing for Stroke Survivors

The benefits of being able to return to the golf course will touch almost every aspect of the stroke survivor's being. From a physical standpoint, they get the health benefits of fresh air and exercise. Doctor's often encourage stroke victims to exercise their muscles and get the heart beating again. The walking and swinging of a club help to move all the right muscles and bring balance and coordination back.

As far as mental and emotional issues are concerned, there is nothing that revitalizes the spirit and soul more than overcoming impossible odds to achieve something important. If a golfer loves to golf, then learning to do it again under a different set of circumstances is an accomplishment that should bring a great sense of pride to a disabled golfer. In many cases, depression is actually a bigger threat to one's well-being than another stroke. By going out there on the golf course and proving they are still a player, the afflicted individual won't feel so afflicted anymore.

Finally, there is great value is participating in a social activity for a stroke survivor who has been hospitalized and / or confined to the home for a period of time. The chance to get out among friends and golfing buddies serves to make the person feel they are still a part of life here on this planet.

Exercises Designed to Make Golfing Easier for the Stroke Victim

While contemplating that first post-stroke round of golf, there are several exercises that can help reestablish stamina, balance and coordination. Walking is a must. Even cart riders will log distance during a round of golf. By getting out each day for a walk, it will improve endurance on the golf course. For balance and coordination, doctors recommend sitting on a stability ball but for those affected by stroke, a physical therapist should be close by unless one has progressed. By doing this exercise for just a few minutes everyday, one's balance and ability to control their arms and legs will show marked improvement over time. A more sensible exercise at home would involve use of a chair. While the person affected by the stroke stands in a corner of a room, they hold on the back of the chair and practice moving hips forward and back and from side to side. This is also beneficial for strengthening the weakened side. If the survivor also has dropfoot which many stroke victims experience, a brace recommended by the persons doctor for safety. It can help immensely as even if a cart is used, as the walking can tire out the weakened leg quickly at times.

Making Golf Easier for Stroke Survivors

The golfing world is well-aware that some stroke victims love the game of golf. With that in mind, there are plenty of custom equipment designers who are more than happy to help design golf equipment that compliments a golfer's disabilities. Another way golf is made easier for stroke victims is the process of making them feel normal. Disabled golfers are often reluctant to play golf with healthy people for fear of slowing the group down. First of all, golf is a game of courtesy and golfers tend to be very patient with those who might not be as skilled as the others in the group. That said, there are many golf courses that sponsor groups that have disabilities. By playing golf with other disabled golfers, the individual doesn't feel it necessary to perform, only to enjoy the outing.

Golf is a great sport and activity. If you or someone you know has suffered a stroke and would still love to hit the links, by all means make it happen. With reasonable expectations, that first round of golf will feel like a rebirth of sorts, prompting the stroke victim to stop feeling like a victim and more as a winning survivor.

Rustic Chic Vs Industrial Decor Style

In interior design and home décor, there are many styles that one can choose from. There are the "pure" styles and then the mix-n-match styles. Two of the more common styles are the rustic chic look and the industrial look. Many people think these looks are one in the same. I'm here to explain why they aren't the same style. First, a couple of questions.

What do you think of when I say rustic chic? Do you think of a farmhouse, wooden cabin feel with wood tables and exposed beams? Or do you think of quilts, repossessed distressed wood with chicken wire and galvanized metal? Both of these descriptions are correct when talking about rustic chic.

Now, what do you think of when I say industrial design style? Do you think of hardwoods, pipes and other metals? Maybe dark, neutral colors, old typewriters, and wood burning stoves? If so they have the right idea of industrial design.

Both the rustic chic design and the industrial design have common elements but they have their distinct difference too. Let us look at each one individually and then maybe we can really see the difference.

Rustic Chic

The rustic chic design is lighter, more feminine, and focuses on natural wood colors or light stains. Like light colored paints and distressed woods. Décor items would include mismatched hardware, chicken wire, galvanized (rusted) metal, exposed wood beams, and wood specific furniture. The easiest way for me to remember rustic chic is to think of a perfect little farm house on a prairie with its simple colors and used items.

Industrial

The industrial design is darker and more masculine. It has dark neutral colors and dark woods. It incorporates a lot of polished or brushed metals. Common features include exposed ducts, pipes, and basically anything we usually try to hide when building a house. Décor items include old metal items, hardwood shelves, and things that remind you of the hard working industrial era of America. An easy way to remember this design would be to think of a warehouse or commercial kitchen made into a house or apartment.

These two design styles have many things in common like their uses of woods of metal but the colors and finishes of those woods and metals are different. It is very common today to find people who mix and match between these two styles to create a rustic industrial style house. They complement each other very well and make for a cozy, yet practical home. You can find many great pictures of rustic industrial houses on the internet for more detail on how they work together.

Whether you decide to style your house one way or the other or mix them together for an even broader spectrum of opportunities just make sure your house speaks who you are. Your home is a place where you can be you! Let it be a perfect window into your soul and show off your rustic or industrial home with style. Have fun decorating your home with your newfound knowledge.

Satellite TV For Automobiles

Entertainment service in automobiles is getting important new players. AT&T has revealed plans for a satellite TV service called Cruisecast. And MediaFlo, a subsidiary of Qualcomm, a wireless telecommunications company (San Diego, CA.), is introducing a competing system called FLO TV, that is based on cell phone technology from AudioVox. The US switch to digital TV will free Rf spectrum for the delivery of advanced wireless services such as FLO TV.

Current players in the automotive TV market include Sirius XM's Backseat TV (also an AudioVox partner), an optional service from Sirius XM which offers limited video programming featuring Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network combined with the standard audio programming. However, the quality of the Backseat TV system has been a disappointment. At its best, the picture is poor, and sometimes it is worse than poor.

Sirius XM currently has more than 19 million subscribers, and its adoption rate also has outpaced that of the wireless and satellite television industries. But the rate of growth has slowed in recent years. Sirius XM gained about 10 percent more subscribers last year, compared to 27 percent growth in 2007 and 48 percent growth in 2006. Sirius XM is currently battling financial problems, holding more about $ 1 billion in debt ($ 559 million of the debt matures this year) .

  • The business model for all of these services is to provide pay-for-service entertainment, analogous to the business model for premium cable television. In the United States, more than 90% of homes pay for television service, but less than 20% pay for entertainment in automobiles.
  • The AT&T Cruisecast system will cost about $ 1300 for the hardware, and $ 28 per month for the satellite subscription. The hardware requires installation of a small satellite antenna on the roof of the vehicle. At the price of the hardware, a security system should probably be included. The size of the antenna is approximately 10 "X 11", and 4 "in height. The technology is sophisticated enough to buffer the signal for interruptions. If you temporarily lose the signal by going under a tree, overpass, or tunnel, for a period of up to 3 minutes, the service will not be interrupted. The picture is standard definition TV, not HDTV.

AT&T is partnering in the effort with RaySat Incorporated (Dallas, TX). RaySat has previously offered a similar system called TracVision that worked with DirecTV. The hardware for this system was even more expensive, costing about $ 3000. The antenna was significantly larger, and the system did not include the buffering feature.

Cruisecast system satellite technology is based on Ku band transmission, with a bandwidth of 500-600 kilobits per second. The antenna needs exposure to the southern sky to receive the signal. The antenna is receiving a signal from a satellite in geostationary orbit over the equator. There is an electronics module that interfaces between the antenna and the monitors. This module can go in the trunk, or under a seat. It is comparable to the set-top box for cable TV. A remote control included for changing channels on the electronics module via an Rf signal, so that line-of-sight is not needed.

Don't look for Howard Stern on the Cruisecast lineup. Instead AT&T will focus on family entertainment, including the Disney Channel, Discovery Kids, The Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, The Cartoon Network Mobile, and Comedy Central. In addition, news channels from MSNBC, CNN Mobile Live and CNBC are planned. "Our target audience is families with children," said RaySat CEO Yoel Gat. The Cruisecast lineup includes 22 video and 20 audio channels.

Car rental companies Budget and Avis plan to offer the Cruisecast service at some locations for about $ 10 per day.

    The History of German Automobiles

In 1870, when Nikolaus Otto and his partner Karl Benz independently developed their internal combustion engines, which were four-stroke at the time, Germany was placed on the map as the birthplace of modern autos and the history of German Automobiles had begun. During the latter part of 1870, Karl Benz began experimenting with their engine design and some how ended up attaching it to a couch. This would forever be the genesis of today's modern automobiles. And by 1901, the country of Germany produced roughly 900 autos per year.

Robert A. Brady, an American economist, documented extensively Germanys rationalization movement which helped to mold their industry's focus during the 1920s. While Bradys general theories about this movement were applicable to Germanys auto industry, the Weimar Republic in its recent years saw the industry in declining health. And because of Germany being extremely reticent when trying to develop its automotive industry, they opened the floodgates for American automobile manufacturers like General Motors who bought out German automaker Opel and Ford Motor Company who possessed a very successful subsidiary in Germany.

However, the German automobile industry tumbled as the worlds economy folded during the late 1920s and early 1930s when the Great Depression raged on. This was a sad day indeed for the history of German automobiles. After the Great Depression had subsided, only twelve automakers in Germany survived. That small group included Opel, Fords Cologne factory and Daimler-Benz of out of an astonishing total of 86 automobile companies operating before the Depression. Also, four of Germanys top auto manufacturers-Dampf Kraft Wagen, Horch, Audi and Wanderer-came together in a joint venture to form the Auto Union. This Union would play a significant part to lead Germany back from their troubles with the depression.

In 1930, when the Nazi Party came to power, a significant change came about for Germanys auto industry and for the history of German automobiles. Motorisierung, a policy instituted by the Nazi Party, was a policy about transportation that Adolf Hitler himself believed to be a key part of his attempt to raise his citizens living standards in order to make the Nazi Party seem more legitimate to them. The Nazis began work on highway schemes while at the same time undertaking the Volkswagen project in order to build and design the inexpensive yet robust peoples car. "

As of today, Germanys auto industry is one of its top employers, featuring a total labor pool of roughly 866,000 workers. Additionally, the country boasts of having the largest percentage of automobile production in all of Europe with a 29% share of the market, next is France with 18%, Spain with 13% and finally the United Kingdom with a 9% share of the market .

There are currently six major German companies which are dominating the automobile industry there: BMW, Porsche, VW, Opel (General Motors owns them), Audi (part of the Volkswagen Group) and Daimler AG. Roughly six million new vehicles are produced each year in Germany whilst around 4.8 million vehicles are produced each year by German brands overseas. Along with the top two auto manufacturers Japan and the United States, the country of Germany is number three on the list of top auto manufacturers around the world.

    Natural Antibiotics Versus Synthetic Antibiotics

We may start with descriptions, where both turn out to be substances that are known to help us combat bacteria which may try to harm us. The difference between the natural antibiotics and the synthetic antibiotics is, however, in the fact that the former are products of nature (directly harnessed from the fields, being typically plant parts), whereas the latter are products of laboratory-based chemical synthesis. To get a synthetic antibiotic, you need to know which chemical combinations have an antibiotic effect (that is, a bacteria-killing effect), obtain the ingredient chemicals and mix them in the right proportions to end up with the antibiotic. To get a natural antibiotic, on the other hand, you need to know which plants (and which specific parts of them) have an antibiotic effect, and then go out into the fields to obtain those said plant parts, use them in the right way , and benefit from the said antibiotic effect.

The difference between natural antibiotics and synthetic supplements is not just in terms of definitions, of course.

Natural antibiotics differ from synthetic supplements in terms of (typical) working speeds. We tend to see the synthetic antibiotics working faster than the natural supplements. But note has to be taken of the fact that we are talking of typical cases here: for there are natural antibiotics that are known to work faster than some synthetic supplements. All the same, the typically faster working speed associated with synthetic antibiotics is the main reason as to why the synthetic supplements are commonly used in medical emergencies: where a person is already afflicted of an illness emanating from the bacterial infection, and where speedy decimation of the bacteria is essential. What is notable here is that the efficiency of synthetic antibiotics tends to be their undoing too: as most of them end up inadvertently killing the useful symbiotic bacteria as well.

Natural supplements also differ from synthetic antibiotics in terms of safety profiles. The natural supplements are seen as being, on the whole and in many respects, safer than the synthetic antibiotics. Noteworthy here is the fact that use of supplements is not always on a transient basis (although that is ideally how it is supposed to be). Rather, there are people who find themselves with conditions that force them to use them on a long term or very frequent basis. Such people, if they were to use the synthetic antibiotics, would almost certainly end up with very nasty side effects of such long-term antibiotic use. But where the milder natural supplements are used, the long term outlook may be much better.

Natural antibiotics differ from synthetic supplements in terms of (typical) working mechanisms. We are looking at a situation where the typical synthetic antibiotic works by directly cutting down (killing) the harmful as well as, inevitably, some useful bacteria. This is against a situation where the typical natural antibiotic works by not simply killing the bacteria, but also enhancing the body's natural capacity to fight off such bacterial infections in the future.

    Las Vegas SEO

SEO is the process that is used to increase the rankings positions on search engines of a website. This process manipulates the onsite content as well as the inbound links to a site, ultimately creating a situation where search engines consider that website or webpage to be the best source for information on that topic. Businesses use SEO to increase their exposure to potential clients and customers, by having their website be displayed favorably in the results that are returned when someone searches for the products or services they offer. Like any marketing method, exposing your brand to potential customers will increase sales.

Search engine optimization is one of the most powerful forms of marketing, due to the fact that it displays your brand to customers who are actively searching for your products or services. Most forms of marketing will display your brand to a group, expecting some of the members of that group to have an interest in buying what you are selling. With search engine marketing, you are displaying your brand to people who are actively looking for something you offer. This is a far better customer than a simple group that is not defined by a characteristic or motivation. Because SEO pushes your website higher into the search results that are displayed, more potential customers see the brand. Most people who use search engines for decisions will choose from the first five results that are displayed. This is why it is critical for your website to be on the first page of results.

Many business owners are frustrated by a lack of performance due to a crucial mistake being made. If you do not "localize" your website and SEO efforts, then you will be competing for positions against a global competitive landscape. If you are trying to rank for the words "SEO company" your content will be competing with companies that provide this service all over the world. If your company is located in Las Vegas and serves mainly that Las Vegas audience, then a localized SEO campaign targeting "Las Vegas SEO company" will reduce the competition to only companies targeting those terms and areas. This makes your efforts more effective by competing in a smaller pool of results. Effective local SEO uses specialized techniques in addition to keyword targeting to achieve the goals.

SEO uses two main methods to achieve higher rankings. Creation of content that is on a specific topic and positioned either on the website or on another website linking back to your site encompasses nearly 100% of ongoing SEO efforts. By creating new content on a topic, you prove to Google that you are an authority on that topic, and ultimately will rank higher as a result. While there are other factors that are also used in the process, these are the most important two.

SEO is an ongoing process, due to the fact that rankings are a competition between your website and others. There is no such thing as fixed placements, and you can always be bumped.

Five Things to Consider Before You Take a Copier Sales Job

Is copier sales a good industry?

In a previous article I told you all of the wonderful reasons why you should consider a career as an account executive in the copier industry. By now you might be thinking that there are no disadvantages to a career in copier sales. But, you would be wrong. Allow me to play devil’s advocate and provide you with the following caveats:

    1. There is not much social status afforded to a copier sales rep. You are ranked somewhere between a used car salesman and a telecommunications rep. Your friends won’t think your job is cool. But, that’s O.K. When they are still eating Top Ramen for dinner you can roll up in your brand new BMW and offer to take them to dinner and pick up the tab since you have achieved the financial stability that probably still eludes your friends three years after college graduation.

    2. The job is hard. Really, really hard. But, not for the reasons you think. The combination of an awful lot of freedom coupled with the absolute necessity of a disciplined mindset can be a dangerous combination for most people. I knew a manager that used to say, “we give you just enough rope to hang yourself around here”. This meant that no one is watching your every move, but, by the time it shows up in poor sales performance, you don’t have enough time to improve the situation before the company is showing you the door.

    3. You must be able to survive on a meager base salary for at least six months to two years until your commissions start rolling in. Most base salaries in this industry are $20,000-$30,000 plus benefits.

    4. It could seriously take you two years to build a territory that rewards you with a copier sales salary of $60,000-$80,000 annually. This salary range assumes that you are really good at what you do and are at least at 100% of your annual sales quota. This leads us to our last point:

    5. The company might not give you two years to get it all together. Generally, after your first year in sales, if you are not at 100% of your annual sales quota your sales manager “will free you up to pursue other opportunities”. In other words, “you’re fired”! Make no mistake about it, your sales quota is not your goal, it is your minimal requirement. Actually, you are expected to exceed your annual sales quota.

So, is copier sales a good industry? All in all, the copy equipment industry offers more advantages than disadvantages. If you consider yourself ambitious, energetic and in possession of superior people skills and exceptional communication abilities, this just might be the career for you.

How to Purchase a Used Automobile: Tips From the Auto Insurance Guys

These days, purchasing a new car requires a lot of money. For those looking for another option due to the financial output, shopping for a used car may be a good bet. Of course, a previously owned car, no matter how sleek and shiny may have hidden disadvantages.

Below find tips from some finely-tuned insurance professionals on how to go about the task of shopping for a used car.

8 Ways to Get a Good Deal on a Previously-Owned Car

    • Decide How Much You Can Spend on the Purchase
Prior to shopping around for a good used car, do a personal financial tally. Then focus only on buys you can afford – whether via financing or full payment method.

    • Choose the Right Kind of Vehicle
Unmarried people without kids do not need a big car. On the other side of the coin, married folks with children in tow could use a larger car. Recreational drivers, long-distance drivers and city or highway drivers have different needs as well. Assess your individual requirements, then shop for the car that matches them.

    • Check Out Prices and Repair Frequency
Look online to determine what you should be paying for car makes and models according to year and usage. This search will also let you know what type of vehicles requires less maintenance work and what type has less mechanical headaches.

    • Learn about the Car's Past
Research a particular car's history by putting in the Vehicle Information Numbers. This will get you to a full report about past collisions, owners and even recorded maintenance and repair jobs.

    • Test the Car out by Taking it for a Spin
Drive your prospective car purchase over a calculated route that includes hills, bumps, curves and highway maneuvering. This way, you'll get an idea how the overall driving ability is.

    • Get a Professional Mechanic's Opinion
Enlist your favorite mechanic in the decision by hiring him or her to inspect the car for surface problems that a layman like you may not be able to detect.

    • Use Your Price-Negotiating Skills
Utilize the knowledge you have gained from all your research on the car to negotiate a price that fairly assess its true value.

And Last But Surely Not Least

    • Don't Forget About Auto Insurance
Before completing the buying process, speak to an experienced independent insurance agent about insurance for the vehicle. After binding the policy, sign the contract, pay, and you are good to go. No worries about the possibility of no coverage on the road to home!

Now that you have a new (used) automobile take care of it with good maintenance practices and remember to keep driving safety a priority.

    Happy driving!

Nano Coin Compared With Nexty Coin – Crypto

Nano and Nexty: Are these the real and practical cash alternatives? Let's find out!

Blockchain isn't a hip geek-talk anymore! Bitcoin revolutionized the way many of us saw currencies, ledgers, funds transfers and transactions. The beauty of all virtual currencies is that nearly each one of them tries to address a problem. And this is where our coin of interest – Nexty – comes in action. During the write-up, the similarity of the Nexty platform will be compared with Nano – XRB to gain a better understanding of this platform.

In very simple terms, Nexty platform is pitched as a transaction system that will eliminate the concept of transaction fee while ensuring ultra swift transfers to facilitate its users. Apart from this, the transfers are ultra quick because the transactions don't require the miners to perform confirmation as in the case of other virtual currencies such as Bitcoin etc.

However, as per the white paper released by creators of Nexty, the primary use of Nexty is meant for newly established e-commerce businesses to help generate public funding. Since there are no transaction, ultra fast transfer (2 seconds! And that's pretty much real time) and confirmation fee, the fund-raising will become hassle less. The coin is surgically targeting the ecommerce stores because that will cultivate an eco-system where these stores will be accepting NTY coins from shoppers.

The concept behind NTY is making daily online trades a smooth experience. The team behind NTY comprises of Blockchain developers and established marketers. Some of the team members have ten to 12 years of experience in full stack development and marketing.

Some of you might argue that Nano – Previously known as Railblocks, XRB – is already performing the same functions as NTY. The XRB coin is a bit unique because it uses its proprietary block-lattice data structures. Due to this, each Nano account has its own blockchain which reduces latency for fast transfer. Apart from this, the XRB is power and resource efficient and does not need high end GPU system for transaction execution. However, Nano doesn't come with a smart-contract capability. Smart contracts are meant to be exchanging triggers for any crypto currency. These contracts help exchanging funds, real estate, stocks or any tangible or non tangible entity of a financial value. The smart contracts also oust the need for brokers while carrying our crypto to asset exchanging flawlessly. Apart from this one difference, NTV and XRB (Nano) are more or less identical. Another major capability of the Nexty platform is its integration within existing ecommerce applications such as Joomla. As per the developers of NTY, the integration takes 3-4 hours max.

In order to achieve a demand – supply balance of the NTY, the platform comes with a built-in smart staking program. This program offers bonuses and credits on buying, selling and holding Nexty. The system is meant for investors and daily users as the same time.

The capability of the Nexty and Nano platforms are huge. Just imagine a world where crypto replaces conventional wallets and transactions are quick! For instance, if a shop keeper accepts BitCoin, it might not hand you over the goods and service before the transaction is confirmed by a number of minors. And now re-imagine paying for goods and services through a currency that's quickly transferred with zero transaction fees independent from any minor verifications!

Object Lesson – Purpose Driven Golf Balls

This is an object lesson using a golf ball to share the gospel and teach children that if you truly love God, you will show his love to others. The Bible verse used to reinforce the teaching is 1 John 4: 7-11.

    Lesson:

(Show the golf ball.) What purpose was this ball made for? (To be hit by golf clubs and knocked into a hole.) You and I were made for a purpose too and that purpose is to get to know God in a special way and to love him.

This ball did not come about by accident. Much study and work went into making this ball so it will fly as far as possible. The core material (which you can't see) was designed to be just the right size, shape, and weight so that it could be hit for long distances. Some are also designed to give more spin to the ball to give a good golfer more control. The material for the cover had to be designed just right also. It has to be smooth enough so there will be less friction while the ball is moving through the air and hard enough to take hits by the golf clubs. Even the number, size, and shape of the dimples in the ball have been thoroughly studied. They even have a specific purpose.

You and I did not come about by accident either. In Genesis 1, God's Word makes it clear that he created us. He didn't make us just for something to do; he had a reason. He wants you and I to get to know him in a special way, and learn to really love him.

There is no wasted material in a golf ball. Every part has a plan and purpose, even the parts you can't see. Hours and hours of study and work have gone into the making of this ball, all for one basic purpose; that the golfer can hit the ball as far as possible without it breaking. You and I were made for a purpose too, to know God in a special way and learn to love him. You start to fulfill that purpose when you believe on the Lord Jesus as your Savior from sin. (Share the gospel message.)

Once you have believed on Jesus, that's just the beginning. In order to learn to love God, you have to get to know him. The way to do that is to spend time every day praying and reading and studying the Bible and let him be a part of your everyday life. In 1 John 4, God tells us we need to love one another because love comes from God. Since he loves us, we should pass that love on to others. When you to show his love to others; your love for him will continue to grow. If you truly love God, you will show his love to others.
